Bible/Religion
- We will be using a daily devotional for this. I have not picked out the devotional we're using yet.
Math
- I will either use Math U See Beta (if I can find the teacher manual for a low price) or I will be designing it by myself.
Language Arts
- I will be putting this together myself. Not sure what I'm using as of yet.
Vocabulary
- We will learn vocabulary in a few different ways:
- Through daily reading
- Learning to use a dictionary
- Learning how to decipher what words mean using contextual clues
- We will learn phonics through:
- Shared readings
- Progressive Phonics
- Starfall
Spelling
- We will learn spelling through:
- Worksheets from Super Teacher Worksheets
- Trial and error
Handwriting
- We will learn handwriting through journaling and copywork
Science
- Science Crafts for Kids by Gwen Diehn and Terry Krautwurst
- 175 More Science Experiments to Amuse and Amaze Your Friends by Terry Cash, Steve Parker, and Barbara Taylor
- 203 Icy, Freezing, Frosty, Cool, and Wild Experiments by Fanice VanCleave
- Unit studies from Shining Dawn Books
History
- Will be a study of Pre-Columbian America to the expansion of the West
- Will have fun learning about the Native Americans
Social Studies
- We will be using a book from The Mailbox called Fascinating Facts Social Studies (this should last us for at least two years)
Geography
- We will be using Expedition Earth from Confessions of a Homeschooler blog
- We will also be using the Discovering God's Animals supplement from the blog also
- We will be using Global Art by MaryAnn Kohl & Jean Potter
- We will also learn about 3-4 different artists (not determined yet)
Foreign Language
- We will be using Hola Mis Amigos (I had a chance to see it at a homeschool convention and thought it was a great introduction to Spanish--maybe I'll learn something too!)
